  • Why Is It SO Hard to Get Dressed?

It's a familiar scenario. You walk into your closet, day after day, and just stand there. You turn, looking at all of your clothes. Well, not all of them. You can't see your "casual" clothes because they're in a drawer. You can't see your sweaters, either, because you ran out of room and have those in bins in the shelves over your head. You have some long dresses that are in the tallest section of your hanging space, but you never really wear those. Your button down "work shirts" are in front of you, but there are so many, you aren't really inspired (and you're just getting ready for a day at your home office, anyway). Your work pants and skirts are boring - plus, those are for your "office days". Your tee shirts take up most of the space in your closet and your jeans are falling off the shelf in front of you, so you grab your favorite tee and the jeans on the top (or still on the floor from the last time you wore them) and you call it a day. At least you didn't wear your leggings and a sweatshirt, right? You leave your closet, defeated, thinking WHY DON'T I EVER HAVE ANYTHING TO WEAR? And you head down to your office, in basically the same outfit you wore yesterday. And the day before that. And last weekend. Does this sound like you? I have a confession to make. This used to be me. Then, I did something crazy. I started REDUCING how and where I shopped, and I reorganized and refined my closet. I focused on pieces I could style in multiple ways (think casual, dressy, layered, tucked, untucked) and I got rid of everything that hadn't been worn in a year or didn't fit. I was left with basics and my favorites. But then I saw that sequin skirt I loved, that made me feel like a million bucks when I wore it, but that I never wore. And it all came together - I would absolutely START wearing the pieces that brought me joy, by combining them with the basics that served as wardrobe workhorses in my closet. With that, I realized I could really help other women who had full closets, but nothing to wear. I started Style by Sonja and was off to make others feel like themselves again - themselves, but with a sparkle! By providing tailored styling services for women, Style by Sonja takes a modern and refined approach to fashion. From "shop your closet" sessions to "capsule wardrobe shopping" experiences, I am dedicated to helping fashion-forward individuals make the most of their existing wardrobe while also incorporating trendy new pieces to refresh their look.
